Hi, it's Biggie Phanrath here! First of all, thank you so much for your interest in our band and for this interview.
Regarding the instrumental version of Demonology — we chose not to include tracks that were already instrumentals. As for “Overture of Silence” we decided to leave it out because it's meant to be connected with another song, “March of the Empire”.
Your origin, Thailand, makes us somewhat curious, as Europeans accustomed to American and European bands:
- What is the Thai music market like, especially when it comes to rock and metal?
- Is it easy for a Thai metal band to become known beyond its borders?
It's quite difficult for a power metal band like us to gain recognition in Thailand, since this genre is a bit of a minority here. Most metal fans in Thailand tend to lean more toward extreme styles or trending subgenres like metalcore and deathcore.
That said, we now consider ourselves more of an international band. Our current lineup includes members from different countries:
— Myself (guitar, drums, keyboards) from Thailand
— Max Cruz (vocals, guitar) from the USA
— Jan Firek (bass) from Czechia
— Anira (vocals) from Ukraine
This is the lineup featured on the new album!
How did Art Gates Records, a Spanish record label, come into your career? Is it influenced by your keyboardist?
Yes, the idea was suggested by our keyboardist, Diego Zapatero. However, it's possible he won't be participating in our new album due to his busy work schedule.
The East is traditionally very spiritual. How does this spirituality influence Melodius Deite?
Yes, it has influenced the band in many ways - from composing and arranging to shaping the overall musical theme, especially for the new album we're currently working on.
The band has had some line-up changes over the years. If I'm not mistaken, you've been the only one who's remained since the band was formed. Who are the current members of the band and what do they bring to the table?
Aha, as I mentioned earlier, this is our current lineup
— Myself (guitar, drums, keyboards) from Thailand
— Max Cruz (vocals, guitar) from the USA
— Jan Firek (bass) from Czechia
— Anira (vocals) from Ukraine
and each member brings something truly special to the band. For example:
Anira contributes a wide range of vocal styles; Jan delivers some really cool bass work; Max brings both incredible guitar skills and a unique vocal tone.
And that’s just the beginning - there are many more awesome things they’ll be showcasing on the new album!
Demonology has several guest appearances. Can you tell us why you chose these songs and what made you attribute a certain character to each one?
I selected the guest singers by listening closely to their voices and considering their vocal character and overall presence, to make sure they matched the mood and style of the songs I chose for them.
When I look at the Demonology tracklist, a question comes to mind: was the intention to make an instrumental album that later received lyrics or was it to make an album of lyrics that was "invaded" by instrumental themes?
For this album, I wanted to present it in the most epic way possible. The tracklist was carefully crafted to represent Demonology in its best and most powerful form—like experiencing an epic story, similar to watching or reading The Lord of the Rings, Penny Dreadful, and other grand, dark tales.
One of the things I like to spend time on is the album cover, and on the Demonology cover we find references to the songs on the album. However, all these elements together form a single image - the parts make the whole. Tell us about this cover.
I wanted to capture all the main characters from the Demonology story in the album cover, so that when people see it, they can immediately get a sense of the album's narrative and musical themes. It’s crucial that the cover artwork truly represents the music within. This amazing artwork was created by Thai artist Sirayu Kanuchdit.
How has the public reacted to this Demonology Instrumental ?
Well, it's been quite good, even in the early stages of the release.
Where does Melodius Deite fit between East and West in terms of its main influences?
I believe people can hear how we've successfully blended great elements from both the East and West, in terms of music and storytelling. If they listen to all of our albums carefully—not just a couple of songs—they'll really be able to appreciate how we've integrated these influences.
What can you reveal about your plans for 2025?
As mentioned earlier, we're currently working on the new album. I think we'll be busy throughout 2025 with the entire process - composing songs, finding inspiration, recording, mixing, mastering, creating the cover artwork, and more.
Is there anything you would like to add?
Thank you so much again for the interview, and we truly appreciate all your support. We may have some surprises in store for 2025, so please stay tuned and keep in touch!
